SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2026
The SSC CHSL 2026 examination will be conducted in Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 is a computer-based examination, while Tier 2 consists of different sections along with a Skill Test/Typing Test, wherever applicable for the post.
SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam Pattern 2026
Tier 1 will contain objective-type, multiple-choice questions from four subjects. The examination will have 100 questions for a total of 200 marks, and candidates will get 60 minutes to complete the paper.

SSC CHSL 2026 Skill Test and Typing Test
The SSC CHSL 2026 selection process will include a Skill Test or Typing Test, depending on the post. The test will be qualifying in nature and will be conducted in Session-II of Tier-II on the same day.
Skill Test for DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’
- For certain DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, a data entry speed of 15,000 Key Depressions per Hour (KDPH) will be required.
- For other DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, the required speed will be 8,000 KDPH.
- The Skill Test will generally be conducted for 15 minutes.
- For the 15,000 KDPH test, an English passage containing about 3,700–4,000 key depressions will be provided.
- For the 8,000 KDPH test, an English passage containing about 2,000–2,200 key depressions will be provided.
- Candidates eligible for a scribe will get 5 minutes of compensatory time, making the test duration 20 minutes.
Typing Test for LDC/JSA
- The Typing Test will be conducted in Hindi or English.
- Candidates will have to select their preferred medium while filling out the online application form.
- English Typing: 35 words per minute (approximately 10,500 KDPH).
- Hindi Typing: 30 words per minute (approximately 9,000 KDPH).
- The typing speed will be evaluated based on the accuracy of typing a given passage within 10 minutes.
