Short Listing of Applications
Short Listing of Applications. Shortlisting criteria will be based on a higher percentage of marks in the qualifying examination.
the qualifying cut-off for a particular branch or center may be increased more than 60% if more applications with higher % are received.
It means if you have a higher % in your graduation, your chances of admit card will be higher.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for Preliminary Selection at a given date and time which will consist of the Mental Ability Test/ Cognitive Aptitude Test and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT).
The aptitude tests will be in English only and will be of objective type. During PP&DT the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English.
However, they are free to speak in Hindi if they wish to do so. Date/ time and venue of Preliminary Selection once allotted will not be changed at any stage.
Final Selection Board (FSB)
The Final Selection will consist of Psychological Test, Group Task, and Interview (Personality test).
All documents/ certificates are required to be produced in originals during FSB.
The date and venue for the Final Selection Board (FSB) will be uploaded on the Indian Coast Guard website www.joinindiancoastguard.gov.in.
FSB -1st day starts off with document verification and if any candidate had Any discrepancies in documents during PSB they are required to correct it now.
After the verification is done which usually takes way too much time a brief introduction is given by an officer in charge along with the filling of the Personal Information Questionnaire form.
FSB- Day 2 has a psychological test. All candidates are required to appear for the Psych test at once. All instructions are provided and are exactly the same as it is in normal SSBs.
Some candidates may have Group Tasks ahead of them on the same day. Group tasks start with two group discussions on moderately difficult topics.
FSB -DAY 3,4 Each Group discussion lasts for about 15-20 min. After the GD round starts the Group planning exercise. The cost guard selection board does not have physical models of a landscape so they use a projector for the same.
In the group planning exercise, a real-life kind of scenario is set up with four problems in it. You have to plan accordingly and solve all those 4 problems.
Then a Group discussion in which the group develops consensus over a plan. Then group nominates a candidate who can stand up and narrate the plan to the Group Task Officer.
Unlike other SSBs here Group Task Officer rebuttal very much. After the Group Planning exercise comes the lecture.
The candidate is required to pick up a card in which 4 topics are written. The candidate should decide over one topic. Prepare for 3 minutes and give a lecture for 3 minutes. After the Group Tasks, the next day candidates have interviews.
Depending upon the officers the whole procedure could end up in 4 days or could take up to 5 days.
The last day is the conference where all officers sit around a U-shaped table with candidates in the center. It usually takes 2 to 3 minutes for each candidate.
After that results are declared. Recommended candidates are required to stay back for further formalities whereas the rest are asked to leave with the hope of getting recommended next time.
All candidates recommended by the Final Selection Board will undergo Medical examination at the nearest Military Hospital as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to Assistant Commandant entry.
